บ้าน 'ข้างวัด'
Baan Kang Wat

A depiction of the village which no fence is put between the neighbors may be a rare scene to see in nowadays.
Living and getting along peacefully as one big family is the main goal which initiated this project.

Under the roof of eleven houses and four sheds, the ‘way’ of life is intentionally formed to build the traditional relationship within the community, creating coexistence of many people; different ages, different careers, different interests, different perspectives,
who share a same fence in Baan Kang Wat.

The half cement half wooden houses, surrounded by the trees, give the feeling of nostalgia. The space in the center of the village is set for the activities. The vegetable gardens are being shared and looked after. Each house, uniquely lives and does what each loves in its own way.
Despite the differences, the thing that enables us to live happily altogether is ‘sharing.’

Perhaps, Baan Kang Wat isn’t just where we came to stay together, but where we came to live together.

“The key that drives Baan Kang Wat an impressive place to many people is ‘real.’” Other places may be beautiful to the eyes, but lack the true essence of life. Yes, they may look real but they are not tangible,” said Nattawut Rakprasit, chief designer of the project.

Film Craft Fest

24-29 December 2016

Our major event of the year which altogether brings joy and happiness to all the visitors is Baan Kang Wat annual outdoor film festival.

The cold breeze flowing while sitting and watching the outdoor film under the warm and friendly atmosphere, this seems to be a dream of many people as well as the villagers. By this idea, the villagers gather together to reify this dreaming picture.

Another purpose of the event is to contribute and bridge a good relationship among Baan Kang Wat’s neighborhoods. To create the festive atmosphere, not only the joyful activities but also many kinds of food are provided in ‘Film Craft Fest - the Annual outdoor Film Festival.’

Our team invites friends to join us in arts and crafts exhibitions, and food and beverage booths to help bring the liveliness to all visitors.

The most attractive part of this event is outdoor filming which gives the sense of “classic” in the contemporary context. Each movie presented in each year is well selected for all to watch. Holding of this part, we do not expect anything further than the happiness sharing among the crowd.

Besides, one thing which is derived from this event is the growing relationship from gathering and working in completing this meaningful event.
